  • Uses

    qPCR of menstrual fluid is used to detect HHV-6A in the endometrium. Collection of menstrual fluid is recommended on day 2 of period when flow is usually heaviest.

    Genomic DNA present in the sample is extracted using a commercial kit. Viral “gene of interest” specific primers and probes, deoxyribonucleotides, and a thermo-stable DNA polymerase are added to the PCR reaction.
